Alka Seltzer for besides a headache! Did you know
Peroxide could do all this? We have "
Green" Tips below.
This was received in an email from Sister Jo. Did you know that Reynolds Wrap (and several other brands) have, on each end of the box, tabs that can be pushed in to keep the roll from falling out of the box?
Another tip received via email is that you can use Listerine to repel/kill mosquitoes. Just put the Listerine in a spray bottle and spray it around outside areas you are going to be in. It was advised not to spray on wooden doors but rather around the frame of doors and windows to keep mosquitoes out of your house.
Did you know that
Alka Seltzer was also good for these things?
1. Cleaning a vase - Fill the vase (or any glass container) and drop in a couple of tablets to remove stains from the bottom.
2. Unclogging a drain - Drop 3 tablets down the drain then pour in a cup of white vinegar . After a few minutes, run hot water.
3. Cleaning jewelry - Put 2 tablets in a glass of water then add jewelry. Leave jewelry in for a couple of minutes.
4. Cleaning a toilet - Drop 2 tablets in toilet. After 20 minutes brush the toilet and flush.
5. Cleaning a thermos bottle - Fill the thermos with water and drop in 4 tablets. Leave for an hour, or more depending on staining.

Friendly Environmental "
Green Tips"
Did you know that going "Green" not only helps our planet, it also saves you money?
Have you ever told anyone, "Turn off the lights when you leave."? Turning those lights off is probably one of the most basic things you can do to save energy. But why not take it a step further and replace all of your incandescent light bulbs with compact fluorescent light bulbs or CFBs. Sure, they cost a little more initially, but did you know they last up to 5 times longer? So if you paid $1.75 for 5 incandescent bulbs, that is $8.75 which is more than you would pay for a single CFB - not to mention the electricity cost savings. Did you know that if every American replaced just 1 incandescent bulb with a compact fluorescent bulb, we would save $8 billion in electricity costs and enough energy to light more than 1.5 million homes for an ENTIRE year! For CFBs, get higher lumens (not watts) for brighter light. Read the package for a color rendering index (CRI) over 80, or words like "warmer" light, to get closer to incandescence while saving $30 in energy costs over the life of each bulb.
Another easy energy savings tip is to unplug TVs, fans, stereos, and any appliances that do not need to remain plugged in, such as a microwave or coffee maker with a clock. When shopping for new appliances, buy energy efficient ones with fewer "extras" whick require more power.
Make sure you check your air-conditioning filters regularly and clean or replace them whenever they need it. You will have a more efficiently running air-conditioner which will also save you money.
Did you know that in the average home, the water heater is second only to the heating system in energy usage? Insulate your water heater and turn the temperature to 120 degrees or less. And use LESS water, especially hot water. Does the water really need to be running for those minutes you brush your teeth or shave your face? Water-saving showerheads, faucet aerators, and 1.5 or less gallon commode tanks also conserve water in the bathroom. In the washing machine, use cool water to wash clothing and wash full loads. If you really need to use a hot wash cycle, use a cold rinse cycle. And if you really want to conserve even more, you could save the cold water usually wasted while you are waiting for the hot water to come out of the faucet. Just catch it and water your plants with it. In the kitchen, remember, you don't have to scald every plate and pot to get them clean, and turn off the water while you are washing dishes. Rinse them all at one time.
More tips later. And thank you for doing your part to help.

Peroxide Uses:
1. Take one capful (the little white cap that comes with the bottle) and hold in your mouth for 10 minutes daily, then spit it out. No more canker sores, and your teeth will be whiter without expensive pastes. Use it instead of mouthwash.
2. Let your toothbrushes soak in a cup of peroxide to keep them free of germs.
3. Clean your counters and table tops with peroxide to kill germs and leave a fresh smell. Simply put a little on your dishrag when you wipe, or spray it on the counters.
4. After rinsing off your wooden cutting board, pour peroxide on it to kill salmonella and other bacteria.
5. For foot fungus, spray a 50/50 mixture of peroxide and water on your feet (especially the toes) every night and let dry.
6. Soak any infections or cuts in 3% peroxide for five to ten minutes several times a day. It has been said that gangrene that would not heal with any medicine was healed by soaking in peroxide.
7. Fill a spray bottle with a 50/50 mixture of peroxide and water and keep it in every bathroom to disinfect without harming your septic system like bleach or most other disinfectants will.
8. Tilt your head back and spray into nostrils with your 50/50 mixture whenever you have a cold, and plugged sinus. It will bubble and help to kill the bacteria. Hold for a few minutes, and then blow your nose into a tissue.
9. For a toothache when you cannot get to a dentist right away, put a capful of 3% peroxide into your mouth and hold it for ten minutes several times a day. The pain will lessen greatly.
10. And, if you like a natural look to your hair, spray the 50/50 solution on your wet hair after a shower and comb it through. You will not have the peroxide-burnt blonde hair like the hair dye packages but more natural highlights if your hair is a light brown, faddish, or dirty blonde. ** It also lightens gradually, so it's not a drastic change.
11. Put half a bottle of peroxide in your bath to help rid boils fungus, or other skin infections.
12. You can also add a cup of peroxide instead of bleach to a load of whites in your laundry to whiten them. If there is blood on clothing pour it directly on the soiled spot. Let it sit for a minute, then rub it and rinse with cold water. Repeat if necessary.
13. You can use peroxide to clean mirrors. There is no smearing.
